Could she, was it really that simple? “If you don’t like it, you could always come back.   “Ok, but I have to take care of some things first. Do I have time?” A to-do-list was already racing through her mind. She would need to pack, resign from the hospital, and either pay the rent for a year or cancel the lease and pay the penalty.

  “You’ll go?” He jumped out of bed and swung her around the room as she laughed and nodded. “Yes, we’ll make time. I’m sure the others will understand.” As he sat her back down, he kissed her lips and held her tight.

  Kenzie spent the morning on the phone. They were not happy she resigned without notice at the hospital, but oh well, it couldn’t be helped. She still had two weeks left before her rent came due again, so she arranged for a moving company to come in and box her things, then take them to a donation center.   They were finally on their way, and Kenzie felt exhilarated. While flying, she got to see the other planets she had only seen pictures of. She admitted, at least to herself, that this felt right. Tolan stayed busy at the controls, so she took it upon herself to look around.

  “How are you doing Kenzi?” She turned to find Dar standing behind her. He looked like Tolan, except his hair was a little longer, and he was a couple inches shorter. His eyes were solid black or at least the appeared that way, and he had a grin on his face.

  “I’m fine. This is all so exciting! I can’t imagine getting to do this all the time.” Dar laughed.

  “We don’t do this all the time, we work at the Palace. My mother lives nearby and I stay with her at times.

  I also have my own place for vacations.”

  “What is your vacation house like?”

  “It’s small by our standards, but nothing as small as the tiny box Adriana lived in.” He laughed.

  “Well, you can’t help that you’re all giants.” She said with a straight face as she patted his shoulder, and then burst out laughing at his confused look.

  “I didn’t know you had a sense of humor.” She had surprised him with her quick comeback.

  “There’s a lot of things you don’t know about me.”

  “You’re right, why don’t we go have third meal, and you can enlighten me about all things Kenzie.” He held out his arm so she linked her arm in his as they walked.

  “And you can tell me about all things Dar.” She liked him, and his sense of humor. When they arrived, they gathered their food and found a seat. “This food is delicious!” She ate a few more bites. “So tell me about Sukara.”

  “What would you like to know?”

  “Everything! I want to know what the people are like, the landscape. Is there beaches, mountains, just…everything, tell me everything!”

  “All Sukarains look alike, unlike humans.” He grinned. “We all have dark hair, dark skin, and dark eyes, even the females. There are some mountains, but I prefer the beach. That’s where my vacation house is. The sand is black and when you walk on it, it sinks between your toes. The water is lavender, and although I love to swim, I prefer to sit on the porch and watch the waves as they crash down.”

  “That sounds nice. I love the mountains, but I also love to visit the beach every chance I get. There is just something wonderful about watching the waves, and smelling the salty air. Do you have a wife back home to enjoy this with?”

  “No. We don’t take a wife, we take an Ardhangini.”

  “Is it not the same thing then? I wanted to marry eventually; I just couldn’t find a decent man that could keep his dick out of other women.” She noted his surprised expression at her directness.

  Dar hesitated. He didn’t want to tell her as Eliana didn’t take to their ways very well at first and it caused a lot of problems. “It’s not exactly the same, but I am unfamiliar with marriage so you would need to speak with Eliana.” He hoped that would end the conversation about marriage.   “Will I be able to see the space station?” She asked with such excitement, Tolan had to laugh.

  “If you want to, I’ll show you around while we refuel and purchase supplies. We will be very low as we came straight to Earth. Pakhi didn’t want to stop for any reason.”

  “It was nice talking with you Kenzie.” Dar gathered his tray and left. He had learned his lesson with Eliana, and he knew Tolan had already fucked Kenzie. He remembered how upset Eliana had been when she found him watching, so he would bide his time…for now.

  Tolan leaned over and whispered, “I’m finished work already so will you stay with me this moon cycle?” She nodded, as she had already planned on it.
