  “I’m sure she is. Did she tell you that she ended up on a Keasie vessel and one of their males had a fatal cut to his side?” Cadas shook his head ‘no’. “Kenzie found a first aid kit, sewed his wounds up, and placed a dressing over it. She saved his life.” Tolan said, he felt proud of her. Cadas seemed amazed and asked questions about how she did it. They all talked for a while longer, and before they knew it, everyone had finished their meal. “What are you doing later Kenzie?” Tolan asked, unsure if he was doing the right thing.

  “Nothing that I know of.” Her heart began to race. She wanted to do something with him.

  “Would you like to come by my rooms later, see where I live?”

  “Yes, I would love to. I’ll go back to my room and freshen up, and then I’ll have someone escort me over.” She had rarely slept without him before they arrived, and she didn’t know if she could sleep alone here. Hopefully he felt the same way.

  Dar contacted Zahin to let him know that he needed some time off. He had been gone a very long time, and needed to visit his mother and take a long vacation. Of course, Zahin understood. After talking with him, he decided to contact Tolan. He picked up his comm unit and waited.

  “Tolan it’s Dar. I’m just letting you know that I have requested time off to visit my mother, and I will be taking an extended vacation.”

  “You deserve it my friend. Take as much time as you need. Are you leaving immediately?”

  Tolan sat in his room and waited for Kenzie. When he heard a knock at his door, he answered it and found Ginni and Jada there. After inviting them in, he turned to Jada, “What is Ginni doing here?”

  “I don’t know. Did you ever wonder why I took a mark on my arm?”

  “When we were on the Vimana, Tula did the same to me, well not the same, she just rubbed my arms. Eliana was insanely jealous.   “I don’t know Tolan, but I would feel betrayed and very hurt if I came in and caught Eliana with a male she chose to see when I was away. Love, trust, and faithfulness are a huge part of our relationship. We have to agree on everything, except when it comes to my duties as Prince, and eventually King. She doesn’t even try to tell me her opinion in that area.”

  “I actually thought she would get used to our ways, and I could still see anyone I wanted.” He laughed, but it held no humor. “Now she’s gone, and I don’t want anyone else.” Tolan said as he took another sip.

  “Give her time. When she cools down, she’ll come back. That’s what Eliana did.”

  The Beach

  Chapter 11

  Dar and Kenzie arrived at his beach house early the next morning. The darkness still surrounded them, but they still had time to get some rest. Dar knew that Kenzie had silently cried most of the way here. She had not spoken one word and he was greatly concerned about her. He cared for her very much, as they had spent a long time together on the vessel from Earth.

  He walked over to her side of the transport and held out his hand. “Come on Kenzie, let me help you inside.” She looked up, and the pain that stared back at him tore at his heart. She placed her small shaking hand in his as he helped her up, and into the house. Leading her with one hand while carrying her small case in the other, he led her into the bedroom. Kenzie immediately laid down with her knees drawn up to her chest. Dar covered her up, and as he turned to leave he barely heard her whispered words.

  “Please don’t go.” Kenzie said, weakly. She did not want to be alone right now. Her heart felt like it was breaking apart, and she did not want to be by herself.

  Dar walked back to the bed, leaned over and said, “What did you say?” He was happy she was talking.

  “Please don’t go. I don’t want to be alone.” She said in a whisper, but he had heard. Dar quickly undressed, pulled on his sleep pants, and then climbed in behind her. As he lay on his back, she turned toward him, and laid on his arm. He wrapped his arms around her, and she sobbed with her head turned into his neck.   Kenzie woke with her arms wrapped around Dar. She needed to use the bathroom and eat something. She eased out of his arms, and quietly made her way to a bathroom. She’d forgotten what they were called but they were similar enough. She hadn’t even been on Sukara a full day yet. She snorted at the irony of it all. She heard the door open as Dar came out and sat down beside her.

  “Good morning.” Dar said as he sipped from his own cup of cafa.

  “You’re welcome. I thought you’d like to see the beach, it’s very peaceful.” Never really looking at each other, they just sat sipping cafa and watching the peaceful scene in front of them.

  “How long can we stay?” She said, thinking to herself that she would love to live here.

  “We can stay as long as you want to.” Dar said with sincerity.

  “Really?” She turned to look at him. “How can you take off that long?” She said, excited for the first time.

  “I work and live at the palace, and have more credits than I will ever need. I told Zahin and Tolan I would be on vacation, and they said to take as long as I want.” He noticed the pain that briefly appeared at the mention of Tolan’s name.

  “Good, thank you Dar.” She said as she turned back to watch the waves.

  “You’re welcome.” He hesitated and then asked, “I think I know what happened last night, but would you like to tell me anyway? Sometimes it helps to talk about these things.” He never once looked her way.

  “I’m not sure I can.” She whispered. After a short time of silence, she blew out a breath. “At dinner, I mean third meal, Tolan asked me to come by his rooms. When I got there, I watched as two girls, females undressed him and rubbed their hands up and down his body. I was too stunned to move so I just stood in the doorway and watched.
