Pakhi's Mate: More Worlds Beyond Read online

“Return fire, but make sure it’s a warning.” They must know it’s suicide to go up against the Chandra. That’s one reason we never took the Agrarians that serious. They were a species of opportunity, but normally cowards as well. They would sell anything, or do anything for money, as long as they avoided conflict.

After we fired the warning shot, they just sat there as if they were waiting for something. A few moments later, the sensors detected a small shuttle heading for a third ship that came into view. When the shuttle reached the ship, it turned and sped away. “Follow that ship.” It was such as strange event, my gut told me to see where it was going.

We followed for a few moments, and then Cedrick was the first to speak. “Commander, it is heading for the wormhole that leads to Earth!” We watched as it disappeared. It was puzzling, as the other ships sped off in different directions.

“Adriana?” There was no answer. I turned to the males, “I’m going back to my sleeping chambers. Adriana must have fallen back asleep, and I think I will join her. Keep me advised if anything else happens.”

As I entered my sleeping chambers, alarm slammed into me. Adriana was gone, and there were signs of a struggle. There was broken glass, and blood. Red blood so it must be hers, along with traces of yellow, which could only mean the Agrarians had been in here!

“All guards, I want a thorough search of the ship! My mate is missing, and there are signs the Agrarians have been onboard!” I made my way back to the Bridge.

“Adriana? Can you hear me?” There was nothing. “I will find you, even if I have to kill every one of them to do it. I love you and I’m coming for you.” She may not have heard me, but it made me feel better to say it.

“Report!” I said as I entered the Bridge.

“Commander, there are no signs of Agrarians on the ship, however the transport logs show that someone was transported over, and two transported back.” Cedrick hesitated. “That means someone from the Chandra helped them.” He said with a solemn face. I could feel my anger skyrocketing.

“I want everyone on board, except the ones needed on the Bridge, in the Galley in fifteen standard minutes!” I then turned to the seven-crew members and stood in front of each one. They all felt sadden at the loss of my mate.

Fifteen standard minutes later, I stood in front of two hundred crewmembers. “Someone onboard has betrayed me, betrayed all of Santar, and I will find out who it is. When I do, you will not be spared mercy; your family will not be spared as they will be escorted out of the Vaase Quadrant because of your actions.” I could feel the anxiety coming from everyone. This is another reason we keep our abilities secret, they would lie, hide their expressions, but true emotion would radiate from them.

Algie had lined them up in rows of twenty-five, and after I cleared one male, I let him leave. I came to stand before a Rahu male, and I could feel his happiness, his triumph. “Cedrick, take him.” His feeling changed to anger.

“This is not fair! You didn’t ask me any questions!” He kept ranting as Cedrick escorted him out of the room. I continued down the line. I came to another Rahu male, and he was extremely happy but I wasn’t sure if he had any part of it. “Samir, escort him to the interrogation room.” When I was finished, I had three Rahu males in custody.

I put them in the room together, and I went to the first one that felt such triumph. I knew he was the one that helped the Agrarians, but he didn’t know that. “Why did you help the Agrarians, Oscir?” I asked as I entered his mind.

“I didn’t do anything!” He sneered. I could feel he was getting nervous as he thought of Omar. Pakhi delved into his mind and found the information he sought. The Rahu were working with the Kaussu, and had been for a long time. They were content to let things be since they had made it to where no females were being born. The Kaussu were using the Rahu to release a toxin, which affected only the females, into our drinking water. They were doing this slowly to prevent an all-out war. I took my side sword and cut his head off, and then turned to the other two males.

“Tell me why the Agrarians were here on my ship.” I said in a low deadly tone. I had already tried, judged, and sentenced them; they just didn’t know it yet.

“They hired the Agrarians to take your mate. They want her dead, but they could never get her alone at the palace, so they hired the Agrarians to steal her.”

  “Who wanted her dead?”

“Some of the Rahu that are in an alliance with the Kaussu, but that’s not me, I don’t agree with them!” I stared at him and decided that since he wouldn’t live long, I would enlighten him a little.

“I could feel your happiness that my mate was gone. Did you even wonder how I picked you three out without asking anything? I can feel your emotions, and I read Oscir’s mind. All three of you are against us.” He had a stunned and horrified look on his face as I dispatched justice. I looked at the other males present. “Get someone to clean this mess up.”

I was lying in bed when I heard Pakhi come back. He had shut off the blaring alarms, so I was drifting in and out of sleep. As I felt a sharp prick in my arm, I jerked and rolled off the bed and landed in a crouch on my feet. It was a green slimy Agrarian. How the hell did he get here. I tried calling out to Pakhi, but couldn’t reach him. Whatever the slimy bastard injected me with was blocking my connection with him.

He came at me with his arm raised, so I punched him in the rib area. As he fell to his knees, he grabbed the table on the way down and the glass broke. When I stepped forward, glass cut my foot and I stumbled. The slimy bastard placed something over my face and that was the last thing I remembered.

I woke up in another damn dark cell. It felt like everything was coming full circle. I tried reaching Pakhi again, but he never answered. I slowly made my way to the door, and waited. I already knew the routine, and they were too stupid to change much.

When I heard someone outside the door, I braced myself. My feet were sore from stepping on the glass. As the door opened, I slammed the heel of my hand where the nose should be. They were all about the same size. I felt his nose give, and he fell to the ground. I dragged him in, and locked the door as I left.

I made my way into the vents again, as they were the safest place on the ship, at least for me they were. I was just lying there when the ship started shaking so bad, it felt like it was coming apart. I laid there terrified as it continued for what seemed like hours, even though it was more like half an hour. I didn’t know what was happening, but if the Agrarians did this on a regular basis, then they were even more stupid than I thought.

I was pacing on the Bridge. I knew The Agrarians took Adriana through the wormhole, and it was dangerous to follow. About half of the ships that entered wouldn’t survive. I just hope their ship made it. I knew they were heading to Earth, and I also knew that Adriana was a fighter, and would find a way to escape. There was only one course of action to take.

I flashed back to Prince Zahin and Eliana’s place. I needed to talk to her. I arrived only to find Tolan and Dar once again having sex with a female. I don’t know how they get anything done, when all they do is fuck. Shaking my head, I went in search of Zahin.

I found him with Eliana together; she was holding her young as he was talking to her. He looked at me with surprise. “Prince Pakhi, what are you doing here?”

“The Agrarians have taken my mate. They escaped through the wormhole heading to Earth, and I plan to follow. It will take us about one standard year to get there, but I have to go.” Eliana cried out, as Zahin put his arm around her.

“We have just developed new technology that will allow us to travel at an even faster rate of speed. You may take it to Earth, as Eliana and Adriana are family, so you are family as well.” I closed my eyes. He was giving me a gift, when he offered a new ship. “It will operate with a much smaller crew, only ten is needed.”

“I don’t know how to repay you, but I thank you.”

  “Consider this
my payment to you for rescuing my Ardhangini a while back.”

“We would like to go with you.” I turned to see Tolan and Dar standing in the doorway. “We know the ship, and would like to see Eliana’s planet.”

“I would appreciate the help. Eliana, I need to know where to look for Adriana. I’m positive she will find a way to escape. Where would she go?” Pakhi asked with an intense expression on his face.

  “You think she will escape?”

“Yes, she has escaped every time she has been taken.”

“Ok, well her family lives in the hills of Tennessee. She would go to them. I’ll draw you a map of what it would look like from outer space and show you roughly where it is.”

  “Thank you.”

We made our way to the new ship. It was a small slick black ship had state of the art equipment. Tolan and Dar were loading supplies. “I need to return to the Chandra and inform them what’s going on.”

When I appeared on the Bridge, Algie and Cedrick, along with the rest of the crew, turned to me. I could feel everyone’s concern. “Prince Zahin has offered me the use of a new ship they’ve built. It travels much faster, and with far less crewmembers. I will be traveling to Earth to retrieve my mate. I have to believe she will wait for me there.”

“I would like to travel with you.” Cedrick said with determination in his voice.

“Very well, collect your things. I want to leave as soon as possible.” He nodded then left the Bridge.

“I will stay here with the Chandra, and monitor the traffic. If the Agrarian ship comes back, we will search it, by force if needed.”

“Thank you Algie. Please inform mother and father what is going on.”

“I will. Be careful and good luck brother.” He grasped my arm.

Cedrick and I made our way back to the Sukaraian vessel; Tolan and Dar were ready and waiting on us. I couldn’t help but look them over. “Do you think you two will be ok without having someone to fuck on this trip?” It looks like Adriana had rubbed off on me more than I had realized. They both grinned.

“We will be fine. Besides, there is a new space station between here and Earth.”

  Chapter 15

It had been several days since had kidnapped me. I would scurry around the vents, and steal food when I needed it. I was filthy and needed a shower. I dare not risk them catching me though, as I now knew I was pregnant. The nausea had passed, and I was hungry all the time. My stomach had started to grow, and my breasts were tender.

As I lay overhead in the vent, I heard two of the Agrarians talking.

“We are here. Gather two others, and take the shuttle down to the planet. I want to be gone very soon, so hurry.”

“Yes Commander.” It was still odd hearing words when they made hissing sounds.

I made my way through the vents until I found the shuttles. I watched as they loaded one with supplies, and knew I wanted on that one. I didn’t know where we were, or what planet they were going to, but I didn’t care. I only hoped whoever was there knew how to contact the Santarians. I still couldn’t reach Pakhi with my mind, but I could feel him enough to know he was alive.

When the slimy green bastard exited to gather more supplies, I slipped on board while he had his back to the entrance. I quickly found a small closet like space to hide in. I crossed my fingers and bowed my head to pray. I hadn’t prayed in many years, but I said a small one now. I needed my baby to be safe.

After we landed on the planet, the bastards left. With cautious steps, I made my way to the shuttlecraft door. It opened automatically. When I exited, I took one look around, sunk to my knees and cried. I was on Earth, and had no way of contacting Pakhi.

I slowly rose to my feet and had a look around. I was back where I started, at Hungry Mother State Park. I walked into the woods so the Agrarians wouldn’t see me. It was winter now, and snow was on the ground. That was good, the slimy bastards wouldn’t find anyone else to kidnap. Getting back on their shuttle was a risk I wasn’t willing to take now that I was pregnant.

After about an hour of hiding, I heard the shuttle and knew it had left. I started walking, hoping I would find a road, or a gas station soon. I was cold, so cold my feet and hands were numb. I walked for about two more hours until I found a couple parked at an overlook.

“Excuse me, you wouldn’t happen to have a cell phone I can borrow would you?” The woman smiled and handed me hers. I dialed one of the numbers I knew by heart.

  “Hello?”

“Kenzie, it’s me, Adriana.” She started screaming into the phone.

“Oh my God Adriana! Where are you? Where have you been? Tell me where you are and I’ll come and get you!” She was so excited I could barely understand what she was saying.

“I’m close to Hungry Mother state park. Hold on a sec.” I looked at the couple, “Could you give me a lift to a nearby town?” They said there was a restaurant there called Betty’s Diner, and they would drop me off. “Kenzie? I will be at a place called Betty’s Diner in Marion VA. I’ll be waiting on you. Love you sis.” After I hung up, I thanked them and climbed into their car.

Sitting at the diner, I was hungry. I didn’t have any money and I was filthy. I’m surprised they didn’t ask me to leave. My waitress, an older grandmother type with gray hair, asked if I would like something to eat. “Thank you, but I don’t have any money. I’m waiting on my sister to pick me up.” She brought me back a hamburger, fries, and a coke and told me it was on the house. I thanked her as I began to eat. It tasted so good. It had been a long time since I had fast food. When Kenzie got here, I might just have her buy me a cup of coffee.

About three hours later, I saw Kenzie pull up. I got up to meet her outside. Once she parked, she came running and threw her arms around me. She was crying as she hugged me. When she finished, she said, “God Adriana, you stink!” I laughed! I had missed her and her mouth. I went around, getting in the passenger side of the car, as she climbed in the driver’s side. As we sped off she asked, “Ok, where the hell have you been for the last seven months, everyone has been worried sick. The FBI has been at mom and dad’s house trying to figure out what happened to you.”

“You wouldn’t believe me if I told you.” I smiled a sad smile. As homesick as I was before, I wanted my mate. I didn’t want to be on Earth, I wanted to be on Santar with Pakhi, Algie, Cedrick, and Jahiem and Alessandra. Here, I would have to hide, especially when I had my baby. My mind was working overtime.

“Adriana, we are not only sisters, we are best friends. I will believe anything you tell me. Now where the hell have you been?”

“Ok, I will try to give you the short version. Eliana and I were camping, when the Agrarians kidnapped us. They are tall, green and slimy aliens with snake eyes.” I glanced her way, but her face was expressionless. “I met a man named Pakhi, he is Santarian, and he is….my husband.”

“What!” She screeched. I gave her a sad smile.

“He rescued me from the Agrarians. I love him Kenzie, and I’m having his baby.”

“You’re pregnant? Oh my God Adriana!” She was glancing down at my stomach. I know she could see the bulge there.

“Kenzie, nobody but family can know I’m back. I need you to take me to the cabin. It’s secluded and hopefully I’ll be safe there.”

“You need to see a doctor Adriana. You need to make sure you’re Ok, and start taking vitamins. Have you even had an ultrasound?” I started laughing.

“Listen to yourself. I can’t go to the doctor, or anywhere. In fact, I need you to deliver my baby. You’re a nurse.

  “Why?”

“Well, in case you missed it, my husband is not human, and my baby may look more like him than me.”

“What does he look like?” She asked slowly.

  “Well he’s…blue.”

“What! Like all blue? Blue. What the hell! Ok, let me think. How far along are you?”

  “I think I’m two months.”

  “Ok, so we
have plenty of time. We’ll come up with something.”

“Eliana gave birth at six months. Her baby is beautiful! I had just left from visiting her when I was kidnapped again.”

“Six months! This just keeps getting better. Is her baby blue?”

“No, she married a Sukarain. Her baby is dark skinned with solid light blue eyes. She named her Destiny.” I was sad again thinking about everyone. “I will need to let her parents know that she’s happy.”

“Ok, we’ll figure it out. I’m glad your back.”

She took me to our cabin that we normally used in the summer months. It would be fine, better than a damn vent. It had two bedrooms, one bathroom, a kitchen and living room. It only had a fireplace for heat. It was perfect. Kenzie helped me gather firewood, and start a fire. After we cleaned everything up, I took a shower and Kenzie announced she was calling the family.

Two hours later, mom and dad, Jaylynn, and Eliana’s parents showed up. They hugged and kissed me repeatedly. I should be ecstatic to see them, but I wasn’t. I didn’t want to be here. I was glad to get to tell them what had happened to us, but I needed Pakhi. My baby needed his father.

“Where’s Eliana?” Janice, Eliana’s mother asked. I smiled at her worried look.

“She’s happy Janice. She’s married to a Prince and has a little girl named Destiny.” Janice started to cry. Part from relief she was alive I guess.

“But where is she?” Everyone was staring at me, and I wasn’t looking forward to telling this story.

“This is going too be hard to believe, but try to keep an open mind.” I looked at everyone. “Seven months ago, Eliana and I were camping when we were abducted by aliens. They were like scavengers, and accidently discovered our planet. A man, Prince Zahin, rescued Eliana. He is from a planet called Sukura. She married him and they now have a little girl named Destiny. Prince Pakhi, my husband, rescued me and we are now expecting a baby. We were visiting Zahin and Eliana when the Agrarians kidnapped me. I hid until I heard a shuttle was going planet side. I was surprised to find I was on Earth.” They all stared at my stomach.
